How It Works

(Similar to Rolfing) Structural integration works on the web-like complex of connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body.

It can resolve pain and discomfort from many different causes, including those related to the lingering effects of trauma, back pain, repetitive motion injury and aging.

This therapy is also an excellent foundation for and complement to yoga, pilates and other personal wellness practices.

Increases the use of balance at finer levels of the neuro-fascial-musculo-skeletal system which allows for increased general well-being and physical adaptability and resilience as well as reducing biomechanically caused pain.

Controlled trials found that a structural integration session significantly decreases standing pelvic tilt angle, and that structural integration caused a lasting decrease in state anxiety when compared to the control group.

Structural Integration practitioners are trained in the application of functional biomechanical and kinesiological analysis and in what they believe are effective ways of changing a client's structure.

Often connective tissue (specifically fascia) is manipulated to allow body segments to shift to a more balanced position. Re-education of the client's movement patterns and other modalities are commonly used to achieve or support the goal of improved alignment.
